Waterproof Dog Beds

You won't find a lot of completely waterproof dog beds on the market because they are a specialty, niche product made only to meet specific needs. For example, if you are going to have your dog's bed in an area that is continually wet such as on a boat or poolside where there is a lot of splashing around, then one of our waterproof dog beds would be a good choice.

Waterproof dog beds are also commonly used for dogs that may have accidents, either a puppy that has not been completely trained yet or a senior dog experiencing incontinence.

On the other hand, if you are looking for a dog bed that is designed for outdoor use such as in your back yard, then a water-resistant dog bed will likely meet your needs. Water-resistant beds are made with breathable fabrics and are designed to dry out quickly.

Unlike waterproof dog beds, water-resistant beds offer almost unlimited color options such as avocado, tangerine and blueberry, just to name a few. Unfortunately you won't find any pink ones in our lineup, even though pink is by far the most popular color across all other bed styles. As far as care, both waterproof dog beds and water-resistant beds usually come with removable covers that are machine washable and some can even be tossed in the dryer. You may also want to consider our raised dog beds if you are concerned about a bed that will stand up to the elements. These beds are raised up off the ground on frames made from commercial-grade PVC plastic (aluminum and steel frames are also available). PVC plastic is completely waterproof and rustproof. The bedding fabric on PVC dog beds is breathable and dries out quickly after getting wet. Or, for an additional cost, some offer optional bedding material with a waterproof coating that repels water. When this coated material gets wet the water just beads up on it.

You won't find a lot of different styles when searching for waterproof dog beds. When it comes to aesthetic design, they are all pretty basic. This is also true of other beds that serve specific functions such as heated dog beds and orthopedic dog beds. As a general rule, functional beds tend to not be flashy or chic or trendy.

However, it's a whole different story with nesting dog beds. Nesting beds are cozy and they are available in a wide variety of colors and prints including zoo animal prints that are very popular. Check out our huge selection.
