These products were developed when the president of Carlson Products, a manufacturer of walk-in freezer doors, got a dog. He didn’t like any of the pet doors available so he had his company make one. The product was sold to Smart Pet Products and later re-named the SmartPet Pet Door, now a division of TechTrol.
